65-year-old British man Philip Maile died in Turkey after a minor leg cut led to a flesh-eating bacterial infection, Necrotising fasciitis, caused by Vibrio vulnificus bacteria from the Mediterranean Sea. Despite amputations, he succumbed on Oct 13, 2022. His daughter plans to run the Abingdon marathon for the Lee Spark NF Foundation, which supports those with necrotising fasciitis and raises awareness.
