22-year-old Alma Cooper, a Stanford graduate with a master's degree in data science, won the Miss USA 2024 title on August 4th at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Cooper, who identifies as an Afro-Latina woman and the daughter of a migrant worker, will represent the United States in the Miss Universe Pageant in November. This year's Miss USA pageant faced controversy after the resignations of former title holders Noelia Voigt and UmaSofia Srivastava, who cited differences in organizational values and mental health concerns.
