Victoria farmers concerned about VNI West high-voltage power lines route reveal in next month.

Farmers and rural communities in Victoria, Australia are concerned about the VNI West high-voltage power lines project, set to reveal its route next month. The 400km transmission line will connect renewable power projects to the national grid and replace retiring coal-fired power stations, but underground placement is deemed too expensive. The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is conducting field surveys and landholders in the preferred easement will be notified first. The final route will depend on the Environmental Effects Statement process and project approvals.
