Retired eye surgeon Philip Polkinghorne is on trial for the murder of his wife, in a double life case involving drugs, affairs, and sex workers.
Retired eye surgeon Philip Polkinghorne is on trial for the murder of his wife, Pauline Hanna, at their home in April 2021. The trial, which involves a double life allegation involving drugs, affairs, and sex workers by Crown lawyer Alysha McClintock, continues at the High Court in Auckland. Defense lawyer Ron Mansfield argues the death was a suicide and that Polkinghorne's extramarital affairs were irrelevant. The trial will feature testimonies from 62 witnesses in total.
