NBC announcer Leigh Diffey incorrectly identified Jamaica's Kishane Thompson as the winner of the men's 100 meters race at the Paris Olympics, won by American sprinter Noah Lyles in a photo finish. Diffey, who has experience calling IndyCar races and is covering his sixth Olympics, took responsibility for his premature declaration on social media. Lyles went on to achieve another victory in the 200 meters event.
