Enugu State approves N183bn for infrastructure projects, aiming to grow the economy and achieve a zero poverty index.

Enugu State Government in Nigeria has approved N183bn for 141 urban and 20 rural roads, alongside 133 smart schools as part of a plan to grow the state's economy from $4.4bn to $30bn and achieve a zero per cent poverty headcount index. The proposed 2024 budget includes an unprecedented N521.5bn total, with a capital expenditure of over N400bn, representing an 80% capital expenditure to budget ratio and a 20% recurrent expenditure ratio. These infrastructure projects aim to improve connectivity within the region, enhance trade and quality of life for residents.
