26-year-old Staff Sgt. Jerry Betzold, a U.S. Marine, died from injuries sustained in a Humvee rollover accident during a training exercise in California. Despite being transported to a Palm Springs hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. Betzold joined the Marine Corps in 2016 and was promoted to staff sergeant in March. He received various decorations, including the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Military officials offered condolences and support to Betzold's family and friends during this difficult time.
