19-year-old Indian student Aryan Anand was charged with falsifying records to gain admission to Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, including submitting a fake death certificate and impersonating a school principal.
After a Reddit post detailing his fraudulent scheme led to an investigation, Anand pleaded guilty to one count of forgery.
As part of a plea deal, he will return to India and serve one to three months in Northampton County Prison, with Lehigh University not seeking restitution of about USD 85,000.
