Wyoming lawmakers propose selling a crucial wildlife corridor for $100m to secure access for natural resource extraction and grazing, contingent on federal land access in the southwest.
Wyoming lawmakers propose selling the 640-acre Kelly Parcel, adjacent to Grand Teton National Park, for $100 million to secure access to another contested area for natural resource extraction and grazing. The parcel is a crucial migration corridor for moose, elk, and pronghorn antelope. If not sold, it could fall into the hands of private developers. The Grand Teton National Park Foundation must raise nearly $38 million towards the purchase price, while the federal government covers the rest. The deal is contingent on Wyoming receiving more access to a federally-owned area in the southwest corner of the state.
