8-5 majority ruling: Pakistan's Supreme Court declares PTI eligible for reserved seats in National and Provincial Assemblies.

In a 8-5 majority ruling, Pakistan's Supreme Court declared the opposition party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), eligible for reserved seats in the National and Provincial Assemblies for women and minorities. However, two dissenting judges issued a 29-page note criticizing the decision, arguing that the PTI was not a party in the case and that the decision did not follow procedural rules, substantive provisions of law, or the Constitution. The dissenting judges stated that any decision not in accordance with the Constitution is not binding on any constitutional institution, and that if 80 members of the assembly change their stance due to the majority decision, they could be disqualified.
