Tata Group's upcoming Rs 27,000 crore semiconductor unit in Assam is expected to transform the region into an electronics hub. The facility, with part of it expected to be operational by 2025, has received the 'bhoomi pujan' blessing from Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The project aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for India's electronics value chain, which includes facilities in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Gujarat. The Assam unit is expected to foster innovation and attract ancillary companies, further developing the region's semiconductor ecosystem. The initiative has also received positive affirmations from Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw regarding its large-scale production capabilities and technological uniqueness.
