Missouri Attorney General investigates transgender woman's use of women's locker room at St. Louis gym.
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is investigating a transgender woman's use of the women's locker room at a suburban St. Louis gym, which has led to protests, calls for a boycott, and an investigation by the state's Republican Attorney General. The woman joined the gym on Sunday and showed staff her driver's license, which identified her as female. Life Time, the gym's parent company, stated that the Missouri Human Rights Act prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, and therefore, the transgender member must use the women's locker room. Ellisville police are also investigating a report of alleged indecent exposure at the gym. Missouri has not enacted a law dictating transgender people's access to public restrooms, but Attorney General Andrew Bailey has announced an investigation into the gym's policies, warning that they "are enabling potentially criminal behavior."
