On July 30, 2024, Warkworth Institution staff seized a $66,660 contraband package containing marijuana and tobacco. Separately, Collins Bay Institution staff intercepted a package with tobacco, marijuana, hash, and suspected psilocybin capsules worth $84,575. Canada's Correctional Service (CSC) uses various security measures, partners with police, and offers an anonymous tip line to combat contraband entry and maintain safety in correctional institutions.
