Azerbaijan commenced commercial natural gas production from the Absheron gas-condensate field, a key development diversifying the economy and revealing substantial gas reserves. The country plans to double gas exports to Europe by 2027, with current exports increasing since 2020. The Southern Gas Corridor's transmission capacity is 12bcm/year, and Azerbaijan has nine gas export partners, seven of which are in Europe. Economist Vugar Bayramov highlights the need for European investment and potential for Azerbaijan to meet Europe's growing blue gas demands.
