29-acre Trimpley Reservoir, built near Bewdley in 1964-68 on former farmland, supplies water to parts of Worcestershire, south Shropshire, and Wales's Elan Valley Aqueduct serving Birmingham. The "James Bond-esque" reservoir with its labyrinth of pipes hosts a sailing club and attracts birdwatchers. Severn Trent's team manager, Joe Upsall, commends the construction as a "feast of engineering".
