Tripura's Opposition Leader accuses BJP-led government of inciting violence, demands independent investigation and aid after tribal college student's death leads to arson and looting.

Tripura's Leader of Opposition, Jitendra Chaudhury, accused the BJP-led government of criminalizing politics, inducing ethnic violence and other crimes in the state. This followed large-scale arson, attacks, and looting in Ganda Twisa after a tribal college student was killed. Over 400 people have been sheltering in a camp since the violence broke out. Chaudhury demanded an impartial investigation led by a Special Investigating Team and called for the state administration to help affected people return to their villages and offer basic assistance in the relief camp. The Tripura Human Rights Commission has expressed concern and issued notices to the Director General of Police and the District Magistrate of Dhalai district.
