Rajasthan's RRVUNL plans to open a 11Mtpa coal mine in Chhattisgarh to reduce dependence on Coal India and imported coal.

Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RRVUNL) plans to open a new captive coal mine in Chhattisgarh's Surguja district, with an annual coal production capacity of 11 million tonnes. The Kente Extension project spans 1,760 hectares and aims to reduce Rajasthan's dependence on Coal India and imported coal for its power generation units. The Coal Ministry awarded the Parsa East Kente Basan (PEKB) Block a prestigious Five-Star Rating for its excellent operations. RRVUNL has made substantial investments in CSR initiatives focusing on education, healthcare, livelihood, and rural infrastructure development.
