Northumbria Police's Marine Unit has warned jet skiers and boat users of reckless behaviour after a spate of anti-social incidents in North East region's waters, including speeding. The police have seized two jet skis, reported the pair for speeding to the Port of Tyne harbourmaster, and urged responsible behaviour. New powers under the Merchant Shipping (Watercraft) Order 2023 allow for up to two years in prison for those who endanger themselves and others. Patrols and educational activities will continue throughout the summer.
