Health Minister J P Nadda defended NEET as an anti-corruption measure in medical education.
Health Minister J P Nadda has defended NEET, stating that medical education had become an open business before the test's introduction. PG seats were sold for Rs 8-13 crore each, and corruption was widespread in the field. Nadda introduced NEET during his first term as health minister to address corruption in medical education, which had students travel across the country for exams, dealing with financial and corruption issues. The matter had been pending before the Supreme Court prior to NEET's implementation.
