EMA warns of $5,000+ fines for non-participation in veld firefighting in Zimbabwe's Bulawayo province.

The Environmental Management Agency (EMA) warns that failing to participate in putting out veld fires in Zimbabwe's Bulawayo province can lead to fines of over $5,000. These fires, caused by land clearing, mining, children playing with fire, and smoking, pose a risk to lives and property. EMA encourages only able-bodied individuals aged 16-65 to participate in firefighting efforts and advises against starting fires without council approval due to the danger posed by high temperatures.
