27-year-old Alexandra Eckersley, homeless and living in a tent in Manchester, New Hampshire, is on trial for allegedly abandoning her newborn in subfreezing temperatures during Christmas 2022. Eckersley claims she did not know she was pregnant and believed her baby had died. She faced charges of assault, reckless conduct, falsifying evidence, and endangering the welfare of a child. Eckersley has since been living with her family in Massachusetts and her son is now 19 months old.
