Singapore extends beverage container return deposit scheme to April 2026, aiming for 80% recycling by 2029.

Singapore's 10-cent beverage container return deposit scheme has been delayed to April 1, 2026, due to a request from beverage producers for more time to adjust. The scheme aims to boost recycling rates to 80% by 2029 and will run for seven years. Beverage Container Return Scheme Ltd, a consortium of producers, will oversee the process, requiring over 1,000 return points for empty bottles and cans.
