New Zealand's government backs 132 regional events, funded by the Regional Events Promotion Fund, aiming to boost domestic tourism outside major cities and create a more sustainable tourism industry year-round. The fund received 242 applications in Round One, with applications for Round Two expected in March 2025. The initiative is part of Tourism and Hospitality Minister Matt Doocey's 100-point Economic Plan.
