Michigan's Weaverland Farms faces a $10,000 fine and is ordered to restore 69 acres of wetland for illegally clearing land.

Michigan's Sandusky's Weaverland Farms faces a $10,000 fine and must restore 69 acres of wetland after illegally clearing land to plant feed crops. The Ingham County Circuit Court granted summary disposition in favor of the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) in a lawsuit filed in October 2022 against the farm and its family operators. The wetland destruction was discovered during an EGLE investigation into a separate violation of the farm's CAFO permit. The family had doubled the size of a field used for disposing manure, encroaching on the wetland, and converted it into a cornfield.
