Maersk raises 2024 earnings forecast to $11bn due to strong container demand and Red Sea disruptions.

Danish shipping company Maersk raised its full-year earnings forecast to $11bn in 2024 due to strong container market demand and the ongoing crisis in the Red Sea. Yemen's Houthi rebels have caused disruptions in the region, forcing some shipping companies to detour, resulting in higher freight rates. Maersk's preliminary second-quarter EBITDA was $2.1bn, and the company plans to release its full quarterly earnings on August 7th.
