BMA forms independent group to critique Cass Review on NHS gender identity services, opposing puberty blocker ban.

The British Medical Association (BMA) is forming an independent group to publicly critique the Cass Review into NHS gender identity services for children, which includes recommendations to improve care but also raises concerns about the use of puberty blockers and hormones. The BMA has condemned the planned ban on prescribing puberty blockers to transgender children, stating it is "discriminating against [transgender people] by blocking their access to healthcare." The BMA's critique will be shared with its UK council at its January 2025 meeting.
