A UIC School of Public Health report reveals that individuals experiencing homelessness in Illinois face severe health consequences, dying nearly 20 years younger than the general population, with an average age of death at 56.3 years. Since the pandemic, there's been a 36.6% increase in PEH deaths, while the general population saw a 6.1% increase. The report calls for increased access to stable housing, healthcare services including primary care, substance use disorder treatment, and behavioral health care.
