University of Michigan researchers found that a fatty acid inhibitor combined with chemotherapy improves treatment success for triple negative breast cancer brain metastases.
Researchers at the University of Michigan Health Rogel Cancer Center found that a fatty acid inhibitor, when combined with chemotherapy, can improve treatment success for patients with brain metastases from triple negative breast cancer. The study suggests inhibiting fatty acid synthase, an enzyme producing fatty acids, enhances chemotherapy efficacy and reduces cancer cells' ability to spread. Further investigation is planned, including trials in mouse models.
