The University of Galway leads an international expedition to study the effect of tiny ocean organisms, phytoplankton, on climate change. The research follows up on 2022's Biological Carbon Pump study in the Labrador Sea. The aim is to gather information on phytoplankton and calculate their carbon export into the deep sea, as they are crucial in regulating atmospheric carbon dioxide.
