In May 2024, STAR refinery, operated by Azerbaijan's SOCAR in Turkey, reported a 13.6% increase in aviation fuel production compared to May 2023, reaching 125,650 tons. The refinery, which began operations in 2018 with a $6.3 billion investment, has an annual processing capacity of nearly 10 million tons. During the pandemic, it shifted production focus from diesel to aviation fuel as demand surged.
