Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has announced that nearly $11 million from the state’s Disaster and Emergency Contingency Fund will provide financial assistance to 17 counties across the state, following three state of emergency declarations in the past 16 months. The aid includes $5.13 million for Upper Peninsula counties damaged by rapid snowmelt in April 2023, and additional funds for counties affected by tornadoes and flooding.
