Company director Hugh James Bevan Lloyd has become the first person to experience an automatic ban on running a new company after being sentenced to six months' home detention for aiding and abetting Scanlan IT Staff Ltd in not paying PAYE and other deductions to the Inland Revenue. Lloyd was banned under Section 382(1)(ba) of the Companies Act 1993, marking the first case of its kind. The director failed to pass on $559,751.64 in PAYE, student loan repayments, and KiwiSaver contributions between October 2020 and May 2022.
