Cleveland Guardians acquire starting pitcher Alex Cobb from San Francisco Giants ahead of trade deadline. The AL Central leaders land the 36-year-old right-hander, who hasn't pitched since hip surgery last October. In exchange, the Guardians send left-handed pitching prospect Jacob Bresnahan and a player to be named later to the Giants. Cobb was an All-Star in 2023 with a 3.87 ERA and 1.32 WHiP over 28 starts.
