The Gate Fire near Sonora, a Sierra Nevada foothills community, prompted evacuation warnings but has now been contained at 1.66 acres. The fire, which started near W. Stockton Street and Highway 108, had threatened up to five structures but was stopped within an hour. Evacuation warnings for Golden Dove Lane and Silver Pine Drive have been lifted, and Stockton Road reopened. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
