66-year-old Mark J. Howell from Hokes Bluff died in a single-vehicle crash on Alabama 9, south of Piedmont in Calhoun County. Howell's Ford F-150 pickup truck left the road, struck a ditch, and collided with a tree. The accident occurred at 4:18 PM on Sunday, and authorities reported that Howell was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The Alabama State Troopers are currently investigating the incident.
