Vice President Kamala Harris praised North Carolina's plan to relieve $4bn in medical debt for 2 million residents, aiming to strengthen financial assistance for emergency procedures. The US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services approved a plan led by Governor Roy Cooper and the state's Department of Health and Human Services to use Medicaid funds to incentivize hospitals to alleviate over a decade's worth of medical debt for eligible North Carolina residents.
