30th Rwanda Liberation Day anniversary celebrated in Kenya, marking end of 1994 genocide with over 800 attendees.
Rwandans in Kenya celebrated their 30th Liberation Day anniversary on Saturday, with over 800 attendees including diplomatic corps, friends of Rwanda, and Rwandan community members. Rwanda's Liberation Day marks the end of the 100-day genocide against the Tutsi in 1994, which claimed a million lives. The Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) and Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA), led by President Paul Kagame, liberated the country and ended the genocide. High Commissioner Martin Ngoga emphasized that the day symbolizes Rwanda's transition from oppressive and discriminatory rule to a new era.
