A suspected case of bubonic plague has been reported in western Mongolia's Govi-Altai province, with the individual believed to have contracted the disease after consuming marmot meat. In response, 13 people who had close contact with the patient are being isolated, and the area has been placed under quarantine. The National Centre for Zoonotic Diseases has identified 17 of Mongolia's 21 provinces as being at risk for bubonic plague infection.
