Sarkin Gobir of Gatawa District in Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa, and his son were kidnapped by armed bandits along with five others on the Sokoto-Sabon Birni Road. The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ahmed Rufa'i, confirmed the incident and said special operatives were tracking the abductors. The elder son of the victim has urged the government to secure the release of the victims.
