Maryland's offshore wind proposal by US Wind advances as the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management completes its environmental impact statement. The federal government supports Maryland's offshore wind projects, with the BOEM's environmental review considering the best available science and information. If approved, the project could generate between 1,100 and 2,200 megawatts of clean, renewable energy for the Delmarva Peninsula, powering up to 770,000 homes. US Wind is seeking approval for its three-phased project, with two phases already receiving offshore renewable energy certificates from the State of Maryland.
