Japanese prosecutors searched the office and residence of ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) lawmaker Megumi Hirose over allegations of salary fraud. Hirose, a member of the House of Councillors, is suspected of defrauding the state by providing a salary for a secretary who allegedly did no work. The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office will investigate the real work status of the secretary and the flow of funds related to her salary.
