Harvard-U.S. Census Bureau study shows income gap between young Black and white adults narrowed from Gen Xers to millennials.
A study from Harvard University and the U.S. Census Bureau reveals the income gap between Black and white young adults narrowed from Gen Xers to millennials. By age 27, the gap shrank from $13,000 to $9,500 between those born in 1978 and 1992, respectively. The reduction in the income gap is attributed to greater income mobility for poor Black children and a drop in mobility for low-income white children.
