58-year-old Davis Franklin from Karlsruhe, North Dakota, was identified as the motorcyclist killed in a collision with a deer 10 miles east of Velva. The crash occurred between late Thursday night and Friday morning on 45th St. N, ejecting Franklin from his 2001 Honda Shadow. The time of the crash was uncertain, and the McHenry County Sheriff's Office and Velva Ambulance also responded to the scene.
