23-year-old homeless woman Sharna Elson, who was using drugs, attempted to carjack a woman in Hanley, Staffordshire, by smashing the car window with a fire extinguisher. Elson went on a crime spree in summer and autumn of 2020 that also included biting a police officer and assaulting others. She has been sentenced to two years and four months in prison at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
