62-year-old former BBC newsreader Huw Edwards has been charged with three counts of making indecent images of children, following a Met Police investigation involving images shared on WhatsApp between Dec 2020-Apr 2022. He was arrested in Nov 2023, charged in Jun 2024, and due to appear in Westminster Magistrates' Court in Jul 2024. If found guilty, he faces a max penalty of 6 months imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine.
