44-year-old elephant Charlie, formerly at Pretoria's National Zoological Garden, is being relocated to Shambala Private Game Reserve due to his advanced age. The EMS Foundation and Shambala submitted a winning proposal, and the reserve will provide regular health reports for at least a year after Charlie's arrival. The decision to retire him was made by the South African National Biodiversity Institute.
