The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) hosts its 4th annual Big Backyard BioBlitz, an initiative that encourages citizens to document local wildlife and plants during the August long weekend. Participants can register on the NCC's website and upload photos of observed species using an app. Last year, the event recorded over 147,000 observations, documenting 7,700 species, which helps inform solutions related to climate change and biodiversity loss.
