Taiwanese badminton star Tai Tzu-ying defeated Belgium's Lianne Tan in the group stage of the women's singles at the Paris Olympics. It was Tai's third consecutive career victory over Tan, taking just 38 minutes to win 21-15, 21-14. Tai is set to play longtime friend and rival, Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon, with the first-place athlete in each group advancing in the Olympics.
