A magnitude 2.8 earthquake occurred 3.7 miles west of Gardiner, Maine on Sunday at 2:50 pm, shaking central Maine and midcoast areas. The USGS reported that the event was felt by approximately 596 people, with the furthest response being 106 km away in Levant, outside of Bangor. The earthquake was felt as far south as 85 km away in Limington, but no damage has been reported at this time.
