flag Health NZ Te Tai Tokerau breached the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers Rights for a 4-month delay in informing a patient of a kidney tumor scan result.

Health NZ Te Tai Tokerau in Northland was found to have breached the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers Rights for delays in communicating a scan result. A man with leg pain was urgently referred for an MRA scan in April 2021, revealing a kidney tumor in June. However, he was not informed of the finding until September, causing a four-month delay. Deputy Health and Disability Commissioner Dr Vanessa Caldwell found Health NZ responsible for the unacceptable delay in informing the patient.
